Review Summary: What Can I say...........Yawn. ZZzzzzzzzzzz
Review Content: Having been an avid fan of the Final Fantasy Series since FFVII I have been looking forward to playing this game for a year and a half. I am so disappointed. After 20 hours of gameplay I decided I was not enjoying the game at all and stopped playing it. I know unheard of where FF is concerned......Until now.
Where has the free roaming, magic, fun and enchantment gone that kept us playing until 4am in the morning on the previous games. We played FF because we liked the twee characters (remember vivi and aeris even wakka and all the others) and villages and battle systems where you could take your time and plan your moves, and who could forget how great we felt when we used a summons to knock thousands of hp off enemies.
We forgave the repetitive fighting to level up because the games where flipping fantastic. From the moment you played a new ff game it was always wow and then you were glued for 150 hours plus, strategy guide at the ready cause you know you want to complete 100%
Sorry FF XIII no wow from me you are just to linear, the characters are harsh and even the fighting can be fully automated. I struggled to play the twenty hours I did and decided to go back and play Star Ocean - The Last Hope International (Get it on the PS3 - on the xbox you'll get fed up with changing disks at the end) and this renewed by faith in the style of RPG's that I love.
I hope FFXIV Online will renew my love of the FF series.........Square Enix if you read these reviews. Let's have a bit of traditional FF gameplay back with your fantastic graphics. We look forward to the new but don't change it out of all recognition. the FF series has a band of older generation followers who have been enjoying ff for thirteen years (Since FFVII PS1) don't lose us.

Review Summary: Graphics great, battles sometimes interesting but where oh where are the side quests!!
Review Content: After 25 hours of playing, I'm giving up on this game.....
What made FFs such great games on the PS2 was that, when you got bored with the story (or you couldn't get past a particularly powerful monster) you could always slip away, do some exploring, talk to people, do side quests for a change and go back to places to level up. This gave the game depth and variety - which seems to be sorely missing in this FF game. I'm now stuck fighting a boss I can't seem to get past, no way of levelling up and, to be honest, I'm bored with the game.
It gets three stars because parts are good - the graphics are amazing, I like the battle system and how it works and the storyline is quite interesting and involved up to now.
But is this the best FF they could do on the PS3? I'm very disappointed and I would suggest that people buy an old PS2 and play FFXII instead.

Review Summary: Nice movies, boring game.
Review Content: I've liked Final Fantasy (FF) for a long time.
This latest FF has the trademark gorgeous graphics, great story and interesting battles. This is where my problem with the game starts, the game is a continuous battleground, I've played for 11 hours so far and I'm yet to reach the point in the game where you can actually roam freely. So far the game has been a fight on rails, you just move to the pre-determined point where a new battle takes place, then to the next and the next and ... You get the point.
Overall the game is very beautifull and is what you would expect from a third generation console title, I just expected more game play and less repetitive battles.
